| Naihanchin kata is the
solo representation of a pro-active collective
of crossed arm grappling and restraining
techniques meticulously designed and engineered
to arrest and subdue a single opponent
with whom contact is never lost.
When applied, Naihanchin facilitates the
non-brutal process of effectively negating
the opponent's attempts to extricate himself.
When he tries to stand-up or pull away,
he is put back down, tumbled and brought
back to 'rest' (arrest). There isn't a
single punch, block, strike, or kick,
in the whole kata!
