Karate: Kata (Forms)

Weapon-less Karate Kata
Ko-do Ryu practices the following three Karate kata in their original manner:

 
  1. Closed-fist Sanchin (Miyagi style)
  2. Rokushu (Tensho)
  3. Naihanchin (Tekki)
 

There are an uncountable number of - modern - Karate styles worldwide. However, the styles mentioned below can be considered as mainstream. The following list broadly establishes which styles practice the kata mentioned above.

  • Goju Ryu, Goju Kai, Shito Ryu and Kyokushinkai, all practice (Miyagi) Sanchin and Tensho kata
  • Okinawan Shorin Ryu, Japanese Shotokan, Shotokai, Wado Ryu,and Wado Kai, practice Naihanchin kata.
  • Shito Ryu also practices Naihanchin kata.
